RIVER AND BOAT LAUNCH ACCESS

Camping on the banks of the Murray comes with its perks like water skiing and tubing. Feel free to bring the boat along and make use of the boat launching area and spend the day out on the water. The boat ramp is not paved (gravel) so is suitable only for 4WD access. All we ask is that you leave the jet skis at home and let us know if you are bringing a boat and especially if you request mooring (we limit the number of vessels at Roonka to keep our visitors safe, so pre-booking is essential). Click through for applicable fees

AMENITIES BLOCKS

Our campsite has 2 amenities blocks offering hot showers and toilet facilities. These are shared facilities for all campers to utilise and we ask that you take care of them. Located next to the amenities blocks are also a couple of washing lines for your use.

SHELTERS

In the campground you will find 4 small shelter sheds. Feel free to take advantage of these for cooking or just to relax in the shade, but please be mindful of other campers.

At the back of the campground you will also find a large shelter shed for use and down on the river bank is a large shade shelter to relax under and watch the river flow by.

DRINKING WATER

Rainwater is in limited supply and available for drinking purposes only from selected tanks and in the two kitchens (please check with the Volunteer Camp Host or Caretaker). Please consider bringing your own drinking water due to the limited and varying quality of the onsite rainwater.

All other taps supply unfiltered river water including supplies to the toilets and showers.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR GUESTS

FRUIT FLY OUTBREAK – Blanchetown and the greater Riverland area currently have a number of fruit fly outbreaks. This has resulted in restrictions applying to the movement of at-risk fruit and vegetables within our region. To further understand these restrictions, please visit fruitfly.sa.gov.au when planning your visit.

JAPANESE ENCEPHALITIS – Although this virus has not been detected in our council area it is always advisable to protect yourself against mosquito bites and mosquito-borne diseases. We recommend reviewing information from SA Health and taking some simple steps including wearing long, loose fitting clothing and using insect repellent.
